Figma Shortcuts Cheat Sheet (Mac and Windows): Every Key Worth Knowing
A complete Figma keyboard shortcut cheat sheet for Mac and Windows: tools, selection, auto layout, boolean operations, alignment, text and prototyping — grouped so you can scan it in one pass.
How to use this page
This is the reference sheet: everything in one place, grouped by what you are doing rather than by alphabet. If you would rather start with a short list and some explanation, the main Figma shortcuts guide covers the ten to learn first.
On Windows and Linux, read Cmd as Ctrl and Opt as Alt. The mask shortcut is the one exception, noted in its row.
Tools
| Key | Tool |
|---|---|
| V | Move |
| F | Frame |
| R | Rectangle |
| O | Ellipse |
| T | Text |
| L | Line |
| Shift + L | Arrow |
| P | Pen |
| Shift + P | Pencil |
| K | Scale |
| S | Slice |
| C | Comment |
| H | Hand |
| I | Color picker (eyedropper) |
Single letters, no modifier. This is the part of Figma that feels like a drawing app rather than a document editor.
Selecting and moving
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Cmd + A | Select all |
| Cmd + Opt + A | Select all matching layers (inside a component set) |
| Cmd + Shift + A | Select inverse |
| Enter | Enter the child element |
| Shift + Enter | Go back to the parent |
| Tab / Shift + Tab | Select the next / previous layer |
| Cmd + click | Deep select the layer under the cursor |
| Opt + drag | Duplicate while dragging |
| Shift + drag | Resize proportionally |
| Space + drag | Pan the canvas |
| Cmd + Shift + L | Lock or unlock the selection |
| Cmd + Shift + H | Show or hide the selection |
Enter and Shift + Enter are the pair to learn. Moving in and out of nested frames with the keyboard is far faster than clicking into them.
Structure: groups, frames, components
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Cmd + G | Group |
| Cmd + Shift + G | Ungroup |
| Cmd + Opt + G | Frame the selection |
| Cmd + Opt + K | Create a component |
| Cmd + Opt + B | Detach an instance |
| Shift + A | Add auto layout |
| Opt + Shift + A | Remove auto layout |
| Ctrl + Opt + T | Tidy up |
| Cmd + E | Flatten |
| Ctrl + Cmd + M | Use as mask (Windows: Ctrl + Alt + M) |
| Cmd + R | Rename the layer |
Stacking order
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Cmd + ] | Bring forward |
| Cmd + [ | Send backward |
Alignment and distribution
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Opt + A | Align left |
| Opt + D | Align right |
| Opt + W | Align top |
| Opt + S | Align bottom |
| Opt + H | Center horizontally |
| Opt + V | Center vertically |
| Ctrl + Opt + H | Distribute horizontal spacing |
| Ctrl + Opt + V | Distribute vertical spacing |
These are worth the trouble of memorizing because the alternative is the alignment toolbar, which means moving the cursor to the far corner of the screen and back for every single adjustment.
Boolean operations
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Opt + Shift + U | Union |
| Opt + Shift + S | Subtract |
| Opt + Shift + I | Intersect |
| Opt + Shift + E | Exclude |
Copy, paste, properties
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Cmd + D | Duplicate |
| Cmd + Opt + C | Copy properties |
| Cmd + Opt + V | Paste properties |
| Cmd + Shift + V | Paste over selection (same position) |
| Cmd + Shift + C | Copy as PNG |
| Cmd + Shift + K | Place an image |
| Cmd + Shift + E | Export |
| Shift + X | Swap fill and stroke |
| Cmd + Z | Undo |
| Cmd + Shift + Z | Redo |
Copy properties / paste properties is the pair designers tend to discover late and then use constantly — it carries fills, strokes, effects and text styles between layers without touching a panel.
Text
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Cmd + Opt + L | Align text left |
| Cmd + Opt + T | Align text center |
| Cmd + Opt + R | Align text right |
| Cmd + Shift + > | Increase font size |
| Cmd + Shift + < | Decrease font size |
| Opt + Shift + > | Increase line height |
| Opt + Shift + < | Decrease line height |

View and canvas
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|

| Shift + 2 | Zoom to selection |
| Plus / Minus | Zoom in / out |
| Cmd + Backslash | Toggle the UI |
| Shift + R | Toggle rulers |
| Cmd + Apostrophe | Toggle the pixel grid |
| Opt (hover an object) | Measure the distance to it |
| Cmd + Opt + Enter | Present the prototype |
| Ctrl + Shift + ? | Show Figma's own shortcut panel |
Cmd + Backslash hides every panel. For reviewing a design without the tool around it, nothing else comes close.
Where to start
A cheat sheet is for looking things up, not for learning. If you want these in your hands rather than in a browser tab, pick a small set and use it on purpose:
- The tools — V, F, R, T. Four letters, used hundreds of times a day.
- Enter / Shift + Enter for moving through nested layers.
- The alignment six — Opt + A, D, W, S, H, V.
That is twelve shortcuts, and they cover most of what a day in Figma consists of. Add the boolean operations and property paste when the basics stop feeling like a decision.
